Our History and our Present
ABOUT U.S.
1956 The engineer Giovanni Bottonelli founded CEI in Bologna specialising in the production of cathode x-ray tubes for kinescope.
1978 The company specialises in x-ray tubes for the dental industry.
1981 The company started producing medical tubes.
1997 The company is purchased by the Villa family, who already own numerous companies in the medical sector.
1998 The production centre and offices are transferred to San Lazzaro di Savena. The facilities and plants are completely updated and the production output increases.
1999 The ISO EN 9001 quality system is implemented and the company obtains the CE mark
2004 The company is purchased by a consortium of investors. The company is equipped with a SAP management system for the administrative and production control.
2006 Collaboration with the physics department of the University of Bologna begins aimed at improving the production processes and performances of the tubes.
2007 New investments in automatic machinery for increasing production and reliability of the products.

- Producing a radiogenic tube requires great technological capability, and at the same time, handcrafted ability. That's why C.E.I. flanks the most modern plants with the expert hands of technicians.
- The high vacuum level of the radiogenic tube requires special cleaning conditions, which are obtained in the controlled atmosphere of the assembly chamber.
- Some process phases require high temperatures, under controlled conditions, to guarantee high-precision welding with perfect sealing.
- Strict controls give the C.E.I. tube the utmost reliability: no component can continue along the production process if it does not satisfy the limits imposed by the Research & Development department.
- Only after the final inspection, which simulates the actual operating conditions of the radiogenic tube, are the tubes ready for delivery
